No driving test dates available? What to do next

Can’t find a driving test date?

If you have searched for a practical driving test and found no dates available, you are not alone. Test centres fill up fast, and at busy centres there can be long waits between booking and taking the test. Here is what you can do — honestly, with no promises.

Why no dates show up

  • Driving tests are released 24 weeks ahead, and popular centres and times get taken quickly.
  • New dates for 24 weeks ahead are released on Monday mornings. That release is for future dates — it does not release earlier dates, so joining a Monday-morning queue will not find you a sooner test.
  • Cancelled slots can appear at any time. There is no guaranteed best time to check — anyone telling you otherwise is guessing.

What you can do

  1. Keep checking the official GOV.UK booking service — availability changes as people change their plans.
  2. Widen your search honestly: consider one or two nearby test centres as well as your preferred centre, if you can practise and travel there.
  3. Be flexible where you can: a wider date range and more days and times give you more chances.
  4. Make sure you have passed your theory test — a practical test can only be booked after a theory pass.

What DriveGuide UK can do

If you would rather not keep checking yourself, DriveGuide UK books your first practical test appointment for you:

  1. You message us with your preferred centre (plus any alternatives you would accept), your date range, your days and times, and your theory-test-pass status.
  2. We discuss your requirements and give you a personalised quotation before you decide anything.
  3. If you agree, we book the appointment for you, using the details you sent us.

We search by hand, not with bots, and we start looking straight away once you send us your requirements. We never ask for your password or one-time codes.

Our service charge is separate from the official DVSA test fee. The DVSA test fee is £62 for a weekday test and £75 for an evening, weekend or bank holiday test, paid to DVSA.

Questions people ask

Do you guarantee a test date?
No. Nobody can guarantee a date, and we never promise one. We search around your preferred centre and dates and book the appointment for you once you agree — but availability changes, so no specific date is ever promised.

Do you change or move an existing booking?
No. DriveGuide UK helps with fresh bookings only, after you have passed your theory test. We do not swap, change or move existing bookings.

I am looking for an earlier date — or a swap. Can you help?
We do not swap or change existing bookings, and we never promise an earlier date. If your current booking does not suit you, what we can do is a fresh booking: send us your preferred centre, your date range, your days and times, and your theory-test-pass status, and we will book a new appointment for you once you agree your personalised quotation.

What does it cost?
You receive a personalised quotation for your requirements before you decide. We never show a fixed service fee, and the service charge is separate from the official DVSA test fee above.

Are you part of DVSA or the government?
No. DriveGuide UK is an independent booking-assistance service. We are not affiliated with DVSA or GOV.UK.
