Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about booking your driving test and how DriveGuide UK helps.

No. Since 12 May 2026 the law says only the learner can book, change or cancel their own car driving test. We explain every step and stay on WhatsApp while you book it yourself on GOV.UK. That keeps your booking safe from being cancelled.

A provisional driving licence, a valid theory test pass certificate number, and a debit or credit card. If you have an instructor, their reference number lets them see your test date. That part is optional.

DVSA charges £62 for a weekday car test and £75 for evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You pay this directly to DVSA on GOV.UK. Our guidance fee is separate and agreed before we start.

No. We only help with new bookings. Under the 2026 rules you can make two changes to a booking, and you can only move to one of the three test centres nearest your original one. Choosing the right centre the first time matters, and that’s where we help.

We don’t scan for cancellations. Using unofficial scanning tools is against DVSA rules from May 2026. We can explain how to look at available dates yourself on GOV.UK and how to compare nearby centres.

Never. If anyone claiming to be DriveGuide UK asks for your login, licence number for booking, or card details, don’t share them and tell us on WhatsApp.

Yes. We can point you to approved driving instructors (ADIs) near you and explain what to look for. You always choose and pay your instructor directly.

Our guidance is for car tests in England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland tests are booked through nidirect, which has its own rules.
